Raleigh City Farm Internships
Raleigh City Farm has farm management internships available that offer the opportunity to gain experience and diverse skills in sustainable, regenerative agriculture at a nonprofit urban farm.
At Raleigh City Farm we know that to grow nutritious food you first have to grow healthy soil and healthy farmers. We are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with her community and cultivating the next generation of farmers.
FARM MANAGEMENT:
Working directly with the Farm Managers, Maria Williford and Colleen Yeager, in all aspects of the farm including:
Seeding and planting
Cultivation
Integrated pest management
Irrigation
Harvest and post-harvest handling
Quality control
Sales and distribution
Supporting group volunteer workdays
Overall site maintenance
REQUIREMENTS:
~20 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Highly motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to receive positive direction and constructive criticism
Organization and time management skills
Solid communication skills
ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Safely lifting and carrying items weighing more than 50 lbs. and operating farm equipment including wheelbarrows, pitch forks, other
Exposure to auto emission and environmental allergens; please note any food/other allergies/health limitations
COMPENSATION:
We offer a $1,000 stipend for the internship season; internship may also be eligible for course credit. Seed funding was generously provided by the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation and Fund.
Seasonal Internship Dates
Our exact start and completion dates vary from year-to-year. The commitment is 15 weeks within the months, as follows:
Spring: January - May
Summer: May - August
Fall: August - December
